Studio Policy

General Studio Policies

  • Please remove shoes outside the door. Clean indoor shoes, slippers, or socks are required inside.
  • For security, the front door remains locked. Please wait until five minutes before your lesson to knock and enter quietly, as another lesson may be in progress.
  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for a lesson without prior notice, the lesson will be forfeited.
  • Three incidents of no-shows or late arrivals without notice may result in the termination of lessons.
  • Hand washing is required before each lesson. Hand sanitizer is provided in the studio.
  • Only one student is allowed in the studio during the lesson; parents are always welcome.
  • If children are left alone in the studio for more than 15 minutes after their lesson ends (excluding families attending together), a charge will apply to cover liability and insurance requirements.
  • No smoking, food, or drinks are permitted in the studio. Water is allowed. Gum is not permitted.
  • Students must bring all necessary materials to each lesson. If materials are missing, the lesson will focus on technical requirements, theory, or aural skills.
  • My phone is generally not answered during lessons or rehearsals. Please leave a message, send an email, or text, and I will respond at my earliest break. My cellphone is on during lessons in case of an emergency.
  • Students who arrive ill will be sent home immediately and will not be eligible for a makeup lesson.
  • Students must want to take lessons. I reserve the right to dismiss any student for non-cooperation, disrespectful behaviour, or failure to comply with professional suggestions, including regular practice.

Recitals and Exams

  • Students should prepare and rehearse their recital performance at least two weeks prior to the event. Attendance is encouraged out of courtesy for all involved, as space is limited.
  • Students must receive the "GO AHEAD" from me before enrolling in Royal Conservatory Examinations to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience. Professional coaching and practice tests are provided.

Cancellation and Tuition Policy

  • Star Piano Studio maintains a NO CANCELLATION policy. Please refer to https://starpianostudio.musicteachershelper.com/cancellation-policy for details.
  • Tuition is due on or before the first lesson of each term.
